These are the heros that carrie and shape China's national pride. Long Qingquan won the Men's Weightlifting 56 kilogram final on August 10, 2008.
Chinese Zhang Xiangxiang wins men's 62kg class weightlifting gold in Olympics on Monday, August 11, 2008.
China scored a total of 286.125 points to win the men's gymnastics team gold medal at the Beijing Olympic Games here on Tuesday, August 12, 2008.
Chinese Zhang Xiangxiang totaled 319 kilograms to win the men's 62kg class weightlifting gold medal at the Olympic Games here on Monday, August 11, 2008. And let's not forget about the Chinese women athletes who also did an incredible job in the hunt for gold medals. Although suffering from less physical glamors and more hadicapped positions in a romantic race for life-long consort, short men have demonstrated their true value in accomplishing great deeds.
Deng Xiaoping -- Architect of China's Reform and Openingup. Without him, the Chinese may still live in stone age. As for the tall guys, could anyone think of any correlation between basketball, soccer and Olympic gold? Chief Executive Officer. July 31 Olympic TrafficCall me pessimistic but generally I'm not a fan of Beijing's metro and genuinely I don't think that the city is going to leave visitors a good impression. The typical rush hours start from morning, somewhere around 7:00, streching all the way to 9:30. In the carriage, apart from weary working class who take almost 80% of the standing space, there are tourists, currently mainly domestic ones. It's easy to know from their empty gaze and disappointing look at the door that perhaps they're going to have to wait for the next one. The capacity has been squeezed to its limitation. The interval between trains has been shortened to less than one minute during rush hours. And BT line trains are alreay running with 6 carriages (had been four). Keep in mind that there's still a week from the actual opening ceremony. Imagine, if you are bold enough, a thousand nations of foreign visitors descend upon Beijing's punny metro... honestly I don't think there's room left on the trains. 42 billion RMB spent for the Olympic and the traffic is appalling discouraging. I wonder where all these money went? Part of that money is my fucking tax, for Buddha's sake! July 17 Home Entertainment/Work Center Set UpSpent a few hundred bucks and arrived at the satisfying result of setting up my home wireless network. Connected all computers, laptops and desktops into a lan via a netgear wireless AP. What the center does:
Next, I'll be getting myself a set of wireless keyboard and mouse, which will be essential for the center to truly realize its fourth function: doing everything with a computer in my cosy sofa ![]() July 11 Maya EndeavorSpent a whole day, with the morning being a tedious but indispensable process of tutorial learning. The afternoon witnessed my endless experienments with different modeling techniques covered in the video tutorial... and at around 18:00, I arrived at the following results, rendered using mental ray in maya 2008: So this, is the basic story of how an entire idiot of 3D modeling turned into a novice in the particular field in the duration of ... 12 hours. May 06 IdealistWe, as those who hold family as the first, are idealists. Our ideal, is to make as much money as possible.
I still remember that some righteous UN dude said that poverty is the greatest of all sins. Can't agree more on this notion. Many of our daily problems are no longer problems if we're empowered by the most equal measurement of all things, currency. Yet the conundrum of ways to realize the ideal remains in hot debate. The ancient Chinese had a proverb: A gentleman likes wealth, and acquires it through decent means. However, modern Chinese seems to leave this wise line behind, as long as you can make money, it doesn't really matter how you made it. The old wisdom is replaced by money worship values. Why am I writing this piece of shit? Totally no idea at all, probably just feeling the urge to accumulate more wealth and let my family have a better life. April 27 Helvetica, the ultimate typefaceWe, the combination of animation class, designer class and mobile meida class watched a documentary exclusively on Helvetica today. The documentary was directed by Gary Hustwit. Helvetica is a feature-length independent film about typography, graphic design and global visual culture. It looks at the proliferation of one typeface (which will celebrate its 50th birthday in 2007) as part of a larger conversation about the way type affects our lives. The film is an exploration of urban spaces in major cities and the type that inhabits them, and a fluid discussion with renowned designers about their work, the creative process, and the choices and aesthetics behind their use of type. To be a designer or an artist is really a luxury for any individual. At the time of creation, you're in a purer status, more secluded from earthly desires and tangles. All you have is the joy of being a god of creation. To build, construct and create something from scratch with the hands of God, pretty much like being Brahma(the Hindu god of creation) himself. I'm not sure what it's like for others, but for me it's a moment of sheer serenity, be it sketching a draft for a website, or a character design, or a logo creation. March 30 En, a little tool builtMarch March 25 En, a little doodleMarch 20 New tool builtRecently I've ventured into the world of computer programing a little bit, which partly explained my absense from the internet. Here's a little tool I wrote in order to deal with the tedious long hours of repeatative work ( I hate any word processor without spelling check...well if you find me suck in spelling correct words, me afraid you gotta eat it!)
Some snap shots here: The last snap shot is the core function, a must have tool for making up dinners that literally don't exist. It's pretty clever. It will generate a random expenditure statement according to your receipt's amount. For example, if your receipt is less than 150 RMB, it will generate a statement saying you've dined with ONE guy for a certain discussion. If your receipt is between 150RMB and 400RMB, it will add another guy at the dinning table, making the expenditure looks more reasonable. If your bill is between 400-800RMB, it will add a third person. If your bill surpasses 800RMB, which is kindda rare, it will pop up a window and say you'd better manually add some other people just to make sure the statement looks ok~ Pretty clever little program, huh?
(RMB39) February 02 Saturday in OakwoodThe weekend was spent in Oakwood Residential, one of the most acclaimed service apartment in town. The place was brand new, you could just move in naked. Everthing from bath robe to kitchen wares had been prepared before we checked in. Our unit was a one bedroom suite with a living room. The 5.1 Stereo system was a plus which I didn't expect. The whole place is kind of expensive, like 30 thousand RMB per month. But given its proximity to CCTV new building in Guomao, I'd say it's going to be one of the most favored recesses in downtown area. However, before all that summer palace fantasy becomes real, I have to watch my financial balance sheet really carefully. For that all comfortable and beautiful lives are built upon cold mathematics. Saturday launch in Flicker, a Brazilian BBQ buffet chain. Food was gorgeous, although it still cannot outweight Golden Jaguar's 230/per person buffet, most dishes were splendid. Oh, we went to Houhai at night. After strolling along the Bar street river a few times, we finally settle down in a bar called Tingyue, or Listening to the Moon. It wasn't until the moment we paid the bill that we found out it was the bar's first day of business. The bar has a four person band, live music with pop songs. Two boys and two girls. I especially like the talented keyboard boy who imitates both Jay Chou and Wang Lihong pretty well. He sang songs while playing his Yamaha, and was able to switch between his falsetto and normal pitch freely. My beloved was very happy that I brought her to such lively place. Beside the appreciation of pop music, we ordered two beers, Heinkin and Corola. I also added some french fries with ketchup. We returned to Oakwood at 24:00. Normally it's not my style to jot down the trivialities in life, but the eudaemonic moments cannot be categorized as trivial. Hence the above words. Oh, and this time there won't be any translation from English to Chinese, I'd quote from the movie Bedazzled, "Anyone speaks English anyhow, and if they don't they ought to!" |
